It's "Back to School" time which also means our favorite dance schools re-opening. I thought I'd tell you a little about one of the dance instructors who taught me how to plié, relevé and turn when I decided to pick up dancing at the age of 18.
Dominique Lesdema has been a part of the Parisian dance scene since the late 80's. Originally a club dancer, he quickly became one of a handful of choreographers that worked on TV and taught at the major dance studios. His musicality is one of the many qualities that make him such a sought after performer, choreographer and teacher. His versatility earned him the respect from the Hip Hop community as well as technically trained dancers. He has been invited to teach and choreograph all over the world. In 2010, he opened his own studio, HeartPoint, in order to offer both open classes in Contemporary Jazz and Hip Hop/Jazz Rock and a professional program dedicated to training young artists who come from all over Europe to work with him. Here is a snippet of a performance I was lucky enough to witness and capture. I hope you enjoy it and it inspires you to pick up your dance shoes again and run to the barre... and to his class if you're close-by!
